Oceana's fight to defend deep-sea corals from the destructive fishing practice known as "bottom trawling" has reached a critical moment -- we have petitioned the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to put regulations in place protecting corals and sponges from bottom trawling, and they have opened the issue up for public comment.Let them know you want to protect thse valuable natural resources.

As early as tomorrow, the House is likely to vote on an amendment to the annual appropriations bill for the Justice Department that would forbid the government from using any money to use the USA PATRIOT ACT to search your library and book-buying records without probable cause of crime.Tell your Rep to support the amendment.
